Northampton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has revealed that midfielder Shaun McWilliams could be out for three weeks after suffering a deep cut to his foot.
However, tests have shown that 19-year-old McWilliams, who was hurt during the first half of Tuesday night's 3-1 League One victory over Portsmouth at Sixfields Stadium, suffered no fracture in the incident.
The news was confirmed in a series of posts on the club's official Twitter account.
They said: "Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has just spoken to media at @MoultonCollege and confirmed no broken bone for McWilliams, but a deep cut to his foot.
"McWilliams expected to miss 2-3 weeks with the injury, but much better news than it could have been."
