Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says summer signing Georges-Kevin Nkoudou needs to improve his fitness if he wants more game time.
The 21-year-old made the move from Marseille during the transfer window but has been a peripheral figure in the early part of the season, managing just 53 minutes of action in all competitions.
Nkoudou came off the bench in Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow and caught the eye in his cameo appearance, leading to questions as to why he has not featured more regularly.
Pochettino says the reason he has not used the Frenchman more often is because his fitness is not up to scratch and has told him to work harder in training if he wants to play regularly.
"He's not 100 per cent at the level we want him. He's very young and he needs to work a lot to arrive at his best," Pochettino said.
"It's true that for the way we want to use him now, it's perfect for him to be on the bench and make an impact as he did against CSKA."
