The 24-year-old has started the last five Premier League matches for the Clarets, having been given his chance due to an injury suffered by Stephen Ward in mid-December.

Taylor only made his top-flight debut when Ward picked up his problem so has had to adapt quickly to the challenges of facing some of the best wingers and midfielders in the country.

The left-back has already come up against the likes of Christian Eriksen, Juan Mata and Sadio Mane, and says he cannot afford to lose concentration for a moment due to the high quality of the opposition.

“I’m enjoying it,” he told the Burnley Express. “Obviously it’s my first chance in the Premier League so I’m learning every day.

“It’s been a tough run of fixtures, but we’ve shown that we can more than match these top sides and we’ve been unfortunate not to take more points.

“It’s the standard, the quality, the players you face. One week you’re up against Juan Mata the next it’s Sadio Mane so the level of quality is so much higher. You can’t switch off for a second.”
