Lewis Hamilton would be welcomed back at McLaren if he fails to sign a new Mercedes' deal, executive director Zak Brown has revealed.
The 33-year-old is focused on claiming a fifth Formula 1 world drivers' championship title of his career with Mercedes in 2018, but his future is up in the air beyond the end of this coming campaign.
Silver Arrows chief Toto Wolff recently said it was 'a matter of time' before Hamilton pens a deal extension to stay put potentially for another three years until 2021.
However, while the British driver has still not signed up, he could technically speak to other teams and Brown has made no secret of their desire to have him back at McLaren where he won his first title back in 2008.
He said: 'I don’t think there’s a team in the pitlane that wouldn’t be interested in having Lewis drive for them, us included.
'If anyone got Lewis, it would be great for the team.
'He has a great history here and he is very friendly with the shareholders.'
