Nico Hulkenberg has reiterated his stance that the new Halo protection device will do little for Formula 1.
The authorities have decided that the time is right to add the Halo to F1 drivers' cockpits and the response has been mixed.
There are some who feel it may be of benefit while others believe it to be irrelevant and a waste of time.
Hulkenberg is firmly in the latter's camp and was vocal in his opposition to the proposals last year, and he does not appear to have softened his stance one bit.
'It's a big hit,' the Renault driver told No Sports magazine. 'Not only because it looks stupid, but the likelihood is minimal that an accident will happen in which Halo is actually helpful.
'Motor sport thrives on speed, and all the drivers are aware of that.'
The German has yet to win a Grand Prix but is determined to keep working to finally take the chequered flag.
'I've always been a believer that when you work hard and stick at it, good things will happen,' he added. 'So I'm not under pressure and sure that my best years are still ahead of me.'
