The Spaniard is believed to have agreed to join Renault from next season to replace Joylon Palmer and was spotted at the French manufacturer's Enstone base last week undergoing a seat fitting.

Red Bull already have plans in place ahead of the 23-year-old's departure with rookie Pierre Gasly set to be promoted from Super Formula to fill his seat at Toro Rosso.

The reports from Germany claim Renault are ready to stump up the cash to bring in Sainz but he has denied having any knowledge of the plan, claiming he is waiting on Red Bull to make their move first.

"Red Bull does its best for my career and so whatever they decide, I will accept it," he told Marca.

"It is difficult for me because what I say may please one person and displease another, so I prefer to say nothing.

"All I know is that there are many people in Toro Rosso that I want to think for making me the driver I am today."

Sainz's impending arrival has reportedly made up Robert Kubica's mind about his chances of driving for Renault, the Pole asking for his release from his short-term contract in order to explore opportunities with other teams.
