Sebastian Vettel says he can still have a successful Japanese Grand Prix despite being hit with a three-place grid penalty.
The Ferrari driver has been penalised for causing a collision at the start of last weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix when he was involved in a bump with Max Verstappen and Nico Rosberg at the first corner.
Vettel, who was third in Friday's first practice session at Suzuka before dropping down to fifth in FP2, says the penalty should not affect him too much in Sunday's race and a top-three finish for the German remains a possibility.
"As for race expectations, a podium finish is always possible, there might even be rain at some point," he said.
"It sure doesn't help if you start further back because of the grid penalty, but overtaking is possible, even if it is not so easy."
