Liverpool and Everton are set to battle it out for the services of Lille midfielder Soualiho Meite in January, reports have claimed.
Lille have high hopes for the 22-year-old but have sent him out on loan to Belgian side Zulte Waragem to make sure he gets regular first-team football to help aid his development further.
It is a move that appears to have paid off as the powerful midfielder has gone from strength to strength and has been putting in some impressive performances so far this season.
However it could also bring its problems for Lille, who could now be facing a battle to keep hold of their talented youngster as rival clubs start to form an orderly queue.
West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked but it is thought that Liverpool and Everton are leading the race for his signature.
Lille paid Auxerre £1.3 million for the midfielder when he was just 18, but it will take at least £6million to lure him away now.
