Crystal Palace are showing an interest in Bordeaux left-back Maxime Poundje, but face strong competition for his services.
Eagles boss Alan Pardew is on the look out for defensive reinforcements after losing Pape Souare for six months following a serious car crash.
Poundje has now emerged as a target and the Eagles could be ready to launch a £5million bid when the January transfer window opens, although they face competition from elsewhere.
Newcastle, Sunderland and Swansea are also said to be in the hunt for the defender, who has spent his entire career with Bordeaux, making over 70 appearances in the process.
However reports claim that Palace are in the box seat and hope to wrap up a deal in the new year.
