Boss Jurgen Klopp claims injuries have cost Liverpool a title shot this season as he prepares the side to face Crystal Palace.
Sam Allardyce's Eagles visit Anfield on Sunday, with the Reds in a real fight for a top-four finish and the Champions League qualification, but injuries are once again a problem.
Captain Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Danny Ings remain sidelined and Klopp says that the problems they have endured have prevented them making a decent fist of pushing for the title this season.
He said: “I think we all agree that if we could have played our first 12 or 13 for the whole season, we are only six, seven, eight points away from the very interesting region of the table.
“It’s not unlikely that it could have worked but it’s not important now because we don’t know for sure. It’s not allowed to look back. We have to find a line-up solution for the next game.”
