Chelsea are being linked with AC Milan defender Mattia De Sciglio and could be willing to send Cesc Fabregas the other way.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his defence as time ticks on John Terry's career, while there are doubts over the future of Branislav Ivanovic and Gary Cahill.
Reports in the Italian press have now claimed that De Sciglio is on Conte's radar ahead of the January transfer window, and a swap deal involving Fabregas could be on the cards.
Conte has dismissed suggestions that Fabregas is not in his plans and will be allowed to leave in the future, but the Spanish midfielder is struggling for game time at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas could jump at the chance of a move to the San Siro if things do not improve for him, so a switch to the Italian giants cannot be completely ruled out.
There is interest from elsewhere in Fabregas with West Ham ready to offer him the chance to stay in the Premier League.
