Jose Mourinho is reportedly targeting a swoop to take Monaco's highly-rated defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to Manchester United.
The Red Devils chief is believed to be looking at options for that area of the Old Trafford squad given that Michael Carrick is not getting any younger, while he is clearly not convinced by Morgan Schneiderlin, and Bastian Schweinsteiger is poised to leave having been frozen out of the squad.
Reports in France claim Mourinho has been keeping an eye on Bakayoko since his days in charge of Chelsea and is interested in taking him to England in the near future.
The 22-year-old France Under-21 international only featured 19 times for Monaco last season but has become a regular in the side this term and impressed in the side's recent 3-1 Ligue 1 win against reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Monaco will no doubt be loathe to lose Bakayoko but would be compensated by the fact he is worth around 25million euros which they could plough back into their squad.
