England international Andy Carroll and Mexican striker Javier Hernandez were both absent for the 4-0 thumping at the hands of Everton last time out and Moyes has revealed the duo are unavailable for the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Manchester United boss has also confirmed defender Winston Reid is a doubt after coming off injured against the Toffees whilst Portuguese centre-back Jose Fonte remains on the sidelines.

"We've got a few injured players. We've got a few," Moyes said. "We're going to go to Manchester and try to put on a good show and take something from the game.

"Andy Carroll and Chicharito aren't back. We've got a few missing just now. Winston Reid - we will check him out tomorrow. Jose Fonte is a long-term injury."

Andre Ayew started up-front against Everton and is likely to retain his place, whilst Michail Antonio came on as a second-half substitute and is pushing for a recall to the starting 11.
