Olomola keen to build on breakthrough week

Olufela Olomola says he wants to build on his impressive week after featuring in the first-team squad before scoring for the Under-23s.

The young striker struck the winning goal in Southampton Under-23s' 2-1 Checkatrade Trophy win at Colchester United on Tuesday night, fresh from being named on the bench for the first-team games against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Europa League and Leicester City in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old admits it's been a big week for him and he hopes his goal will catch the eye of boss Claude Puel as he eyes more involvement in the senior side after the international break.

"It's been a good week for myself being in and around the first team, but I have to keep working hard for the Under-23s and hopefully my chances will come," he said on the club's website.
