Pep Guardiola is reportedly considering a raid to take Bayern Munich's Spanish left-back Juan Bernat to Manchester City.
Contrary to summer reports, there is no agreement in place which prevents the City boss from returning to his former club to try and sign players.
Guardiola has instructed his close team to give him a list of suitable names.
And it's understood 23-year-old Bernat, who struggles for regular Bayern action, is on the Citizens' radar.
City have left-back Gael Clichy out of contract next summer and are currently scouting younger options, with Aleksandar Kolarov also turning 31 later next month.
Benat's previous grounding at Valencia, coupled with his pace and ability to understand Guardiola's demands, is something which appeals.
Guardiola is also believed to be a fan of his overall character and there is a feeling Bayern might be willing to do business if they do receive an offer next summer over £20million.
