Reports have suggested that the Eagles have agreed a fee in the region of £8million for Martins Indi, who impressed while on loan with the Potters last season.

However, Stoke could now throw a spanner in the works, after their boss Mark Hughes claimed he is still hoping to do a deal for the central defender.

Hughes insists that he would still like to re-sign Martins Indi who continues to train with his club Porto while the clubs try to reach an agreement over his fee.

“We still want him," Hughes said. "Hopefully that’s something we will be able to do. “But we need everyone to be on the same page and, at the moment, we’re not.”

That would suggest that Palace are in the box seat to do a deal, but will have to move quickly just in case talks between Stoke and Porto also reach a successful conclusion.
