Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is determined to force his way back into the starting line up.
Rooney has found himself on the bench in each of United's last three fixtures, with his last start coming in the EFL Cup at Northampton.
The 30-year-old has now linked up with the England squad ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia and he was asked about his club situation by reporters at St George's Park.
The United skipper admitted he was disappointed to have lost his starting spot but stressed he is desperate to win it back, and also stated manager Jose Mourinho has his full support.
He said: "Of course you want to play. As a football player you want to play. It is my job, I love football and I love being involved with the team.
"Obviously I am not starting at the minute with Manchester United and I have to work hard to try to get back in the starting XI, which I am doing, and when I get my chances I have to take them.
"But again I am fully supportive of the team, of the players and of the manager at Manchester United. Of course I want to be involved but the most important thing is that we win."
