Wayne Bennett believes England should play a mid-season international in order to help their 2017 World Cup preparations.
The current fixture list means Bennett's team may not play between the end of the upcoming Four Nations and the start of the global showpiece next October.
In contrast, Australia's stars have the three-game State of Origin series to look forward to, as well as their annual Test against New Zealand.
During the week of the ANZAC Test, the likes of Samoa, Fiji and Papua New Guinea are all due to play each other.
Bennett believes taking his players over to Australia to face one of these sides could prove crucial to their chances of success when they return Down Under for next year's global showpiece.
He said: "In the week when New Zealand play Australia, Samoa, Fiji and Papua New Guinea are coming. There is a chance for England to be part of it.
"It's not going to be perfect but we've got a great opportunity to play more Test matches."
