Castleford Tigers have been boosted after forward Matt Cook signed a new one-year deal extension, with the option of a further year.
The 29-year-old former Bradford and Hull KR man moved to Wheldon Road ahead of the 2015 Super League season from London and made 29 appearances this season as the Tigers finished in fifth position at the end of the Super 8s.
Cook, whose only try of the campaign came in the final game of the Super 8s against Widnes Vikings, is now looking to help Daryl Powell's side push on in 2017.
He told the club's website: "It feels really good to get my new deal nailed down. It's been a tough year for the boys with all the injuries but to finish fifth was great for us.
"I've now got another two seasons to make sure I am around the club as I feel we’ll be challenging for silverware and it's exciting times."
Head coach Powell added: "Matt Cook has shown at the end of the season his potential as a player is still growing. I expect him to be a big part of an outstanding pack over the coming seasons and I am delighted he has agreed to extend his contract."
