Cardiff Blues have confirmed that winger Alex Cuthbert will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
The Wales international has been on the sidelines due to a heel knock and he was ruled out for 10 weeks during the Six Nations.
However, due to the length of his rehabilitation, Cardiff have now decided to correct a long-standing knee issue.
Cuthbert saw a specialist in Sweden and underwent minor surgery earlier this week to solve a tendon issue and he has now been ruled out for 12 weeks.
Confirming the setback, Blues head coach Danny Wilson said: "Clearly Alex will be disappointed to miss the end of this season with Cardiff Blues and the chance to go on the summer tour with Wales to New Zealand.
"However, this decision has been taken for his long-term health and so we wish him well as he commences his rehabilitation."
