Coach Alan Dickens insists Dylan Hartley could return from injury when Northampton Saints take on Castres on Saturday.
The two sides will meet in the European Champions Cup, with Northampton set to name their squad on Friday lunchtime.
Hartley has not played since September 11 after picking up a back injury that caused spasms and left him unable to lift weight or practice scrums.
However, he has returned to full training and Dickens admits he is now in contention for the clash at the Stade Pierre Antoine.
He told Sky Sports: "Dylan's been injured. He's on the route back.
"He trained fully last week. He's trained fully this week, it's just dependent on how he reacts. He's there or thereabouts."
