Leeds Rhinos boss Brian McDermott has confirmed that Featherstone forward Jack Ormondroyd will be the club's first signing for 2017.
The Rhinos are already recruiting for the new campaign after failing to impress during 2016, having failed to qualify for the Super 8s.
McDermott's men did survive and confirm their Super League status for 2017 last month and they have now looked to the Championship for their first signing.
Ormondroyd, a 6ft 5in prop, has signed a three-year contract but he may be loaned back to the Rovers by McDermott.
Confirming the deal, he told reporters: "Jack is a player who has impressed us this season and who has potential.
"It will be good to see him in our environment and see how he develops. We will be continuing our dual-registration arrangement with Featherstone next season and that will allow Jack to continue his development in games as well."
