Wakefield Trinity's new signing Pauli Pauli admits it was different playing in freezing conditions but does not mind the English cold.
The 23-year-old has moved from Australia's Newcastle Knights to play in Super League and made his debut for Trinity in the 17-10 Boxing Day loss to Leeds Rhinos.
The game was played in icy conditions and bright sunshine - a far cry from his experience of playing Down Under.
However, the man who is from Samoan descent does not seem to mind and actually enjoyed the experience which, he felt, was good for both himself and the team.
"I’ve not played in the cold like that before but it is going to be a good time for me here – I am going to enjoy it," he said.
"It is a lot different to Australia - it’s a lot warmer in Australia - but I like this weather. It makes me sleep better,so it’s all good.
"It was good to get the cobwebs out of the way and to see the boys play and try to get the mistakes out of the way at the same time."
