England winger Anthony Watson is a major fitness doubt for the autumn internationals after breaking his jaw in training this week.

The 22-year-old, who has scored 12 tries from 24 England appearances, picked up the injury during training at England's training camp in Brighton.

The Bath flyer featured in every match for the Red Rose as they won last season's Six Nations and also in the 3-0 whitewash over Australia Down Under.

He is clearly a favourite of coach Eddie Jones but may well have to sit out the autumn programme against South Africa, Fiji, Argentina and Australia.

Bath director of rugby Todd Blackadder said: "It's too early for a full medical prognosis on how long he'll be out for, but it's likely he'll miss the autumn internationals.

"He's in great hands with our medical team and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch when he's ready."

Jones had already lost flanker Sam Jones after he broke a leg in a judo session in training while sparring with lock Maro Itoje.
