Damian Welch scored a last-gasp try to earn Exeter a 27-27 draw with Gloucester at Sandy Park on Saturday afternoon.
The lock touched down in the final minute of the contest to bring the scores level but Gareth Steenson's tough touchline conversion attempt sailed wide and the spoils were shared in the South West.
Gloucester led 17-14 at half-time after Matthew Scott and Charlie Sharples had scored first-half tries, with Thomas Waldrom and Ian Whitten replying for the hosts before the interval.
The Chiefs added two more five-pointers in the second period as Whitten notched a second before Welch's effort in the dying moments.
Ben Morgan had threatened to win the game for the Cherry and Whites with a 58th-minute score as Grieg Laidlaw converted all the scores, but a draw was a fair result after a pulsating contest.
Elsewhere, Leicester beat Worcester 34-13, while Harlequins were 20-9 winners over Northampton and Newcastle edged out Bristol 19-14 at Kingston Park.
