Manchester United are without strikers Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the trip to face Everton on New Year's Day.

Strikers vie for central berth

Strikers vie for central berth

Lukaku will miss at least two games after suffering a head injury in the 0-0 draw against Southampton on Saturday, while Ibrahimovic faces a month out with a recurrence of his knee problems.

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will vie for the striker's berth while Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be afforded another chance to impress after another below-par performance on Saturday.

Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Eric Bailly are definitely out, with question marks over the fitness Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Tuanzebe, Darmian, Jones, Smalling, Valencia, Lindelof, Young, Rojo, Shaw, Blind, McTominay, Pogba, Herrera, Matic, Lingard, Martial, Rashford, Mata, Mkhitaryan.
