Sunderland are set to end their interest in FC Copenhagen forward Federico Santander due to the Danish club's asking price.
The Stadium of Light outfit have been heavily linked with the Paraguayan forward in recent weeks and boss David Moyes is keen to add to his attacking options in the January window.
However, FC Copenhagen are eager to keep hold of the 25-year-old, who is also believed to be a target for Lyon and Everton, and as such are reported to have set a £31million asking price.
Sunderland are not willing to pay that kind of fee for the striker and are not expected to firm up their interest with a bid when the transfer window re-opens.
The Black Cats may still send scouts to check on Santander when Copenhagen take on Leicester at the King Power Stadium in the Champions League on Tuesday, but a January bid appears unlikely given his club's current valuation.
