Sam Stosur was the pick of the women on day four of the French Open as she dispatched Simona Halep for the loss of just two games.
The Australian is looking to go one better than the runner up spot of twelve months ago and she already looks like a force to contend with.
Her powerful serve and huge forehand was too much for the little known Romanian in the first set as she served up a bagel and was in total control.
While Halep finally got on the board in the second set she was never able to contend with the power and the pace of Stosur who continues her march through the draw.
Stosur will now face Gisela Dulko in the third round as the Argentinean saw off thirty two seed Tsvetana Pironkova.
It was a straight set for the world number fifty one as she wrapped up an impressive 6-4 6-2 win to progress.
The defending champion Francesca Schiavone, who was victorious against Stosur twelve months ago, was also in action yesterday as she faced Vesna Dolonts.
And while Dolonts, cheered on by the French crowd, did manage to get a late break against the Italian but in the end Schiavone was too powerful as she won 6-1 6-2.
She will now face Shuai Peng in the third round as the Chinese woman came through against Polona Hercog 7-5 6-1.
