The British number one is currently enjoying the best form of her career and a march to last week's China Open final saw her propelled into the world's top 10 for the first time.

The Australian-born ace was hoping to go one better in the former British colony and had already taken care of compatriot Naomi Broady in the first round.

However, she has suffered an abdominal strain and expressed her disappointment at having to pull out of her second-round match with Wang Qiang at the Far East event.

"I was really looking forward to making this week last as long as possible," she said. "It wasn't as long as I would have liked, but I need to look after my body first.

"I need to make sure I make the right decisions for my health."

Konta currently sits in the final qualification spot for the season-ending Finals in Singapore but could now be overtaken in the standings by a number of players.
