Johanna Konta still has a chance of reaching the WTA Finals in Singapore after booking her place in the China Open third round.
The 25-year-old currently finds herself in 11th place in her attempt to reach the WTA Finals, which sees the top eight women in the rankings battle it out for the prize in Singapore.
Konta strengthened her chances of climbing into that top eight with a 7-5 6-2 second round victory over the Hungarian Timea Babos in Beijing.
Next up for the British number one is the 2016 US Open finalist Karolina Pliskova, who managed to beat Serena Williams on her way to the showpiece event in New York last month.
The fifth seed beat Russia's Daria Kasatkina 3-6 7-5 7-6 (9-7) to secure her showdown with Konta in the third round.
Konta does have the opportunity to break into the top 10 in the rankings for the first time in her career if she can maintain her run at the China Open.
