Garbine Muguruza continued her French Open title defence with a straight-sets victory over Yulia Putintseva.
Muguruza, who ousted Francesca Schiavone and Anett Kontaveit in round one and two respectively, started her third-round clash in sluggish fashion and was put to the test by her Kazakh opponent.
The Spaniard managed to raise her level as the match went on, taking the first set 7-5, before romping home to take the second 6-2, finishing the contest off with a brilliant ace.
It was a solid performance from the world number five and she will take on either 24-year-old American Shelby Rogers or rising French star Kristina Mladenovic in the fourth round.
Elsewhere, 19-year-old Latvian Jelena Ostapenko booked her spot in the next round at Roland Garros with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Lesia Tsurenko.
In the men's tournament, Belgium's David Goffin was forced to withdraw from his match against Horacio Zeballos after sustaining an ankle injury.
The number 10 seed was leading 5-4 in the first set when he had to retire and Zeballos will now face either American Steve Johnson or Austrian Dominic Thiem in the next round.
