Garbine Muguruza hopes to return to the top of the WTA rankings in 2018 but expects a fierce battle.
The Spanish star was one of five different women to top the rankings in 2017, finishing the year as the world number two, just 40 points behind Simona Halep.
Muguruza claimed the Wimbledon crown as there were four different Grand Slam winners last year - including two first-time champions - and the 24-year-old believes next season will be equally competitive.
"I think everybody is looking for that [world number one spot]," she told ESPN. "It's tough; everyone is at an equal level and is very consistent, so it's really like a war in the women's field."
