Svetlana Kuznetsova and Carla Suarez Navarro both admit they're feeling the pressure as they chase a place at the WTA Finals.
Both players could grab the last remaining place for the end-of-season event in Singapore after American star Serena Williams was forced to pull out due to her ongoing shoulder injury.
Kuznetsova or Suarez Navarro will qualify - and edge out Briton Johanna Konta - if they win the Kremlin Cup in Russia but both women say they cannot think about the prospect of making it to Singapore yet.
"If I manage to get a pass to Singapore, that would be great," Kuznetsova said. "But the situation is so uncertain and now I'm much more anxious about my performance here."
Meanwhile, Suarez Navarro added: "I need to go step by step, from match to match because there are plenty of strong players and every match here in Moscow will be tough for sure.
"If I manage to go all the way here I'll make it (into the WTA Finals) but there is still a long way to the final and especially to the title."
