Manchester United's Phil Jones will be assessed to determine if he can start Saturday's lunchtime Anfield showdown against Liverpool.
The defender has made decent progress from the minor knee problem which ruled him out of England's recent World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.
Jones, who has featured in all of United's seven Premier League games so far this term, has been able to train without any issues in the last couple of days, with the 25-year-old now desperate to be involved in the clash against their fierce rivals.
United insiders, however, state the medical staff remain "wary" due to Jones' previous poor injury record, with the England international scheduled to rejoin the rest of the squad today and see how he now fares.
The Red Devils have conceded just two league goals this season and Jones' solid showings have been singled out for praise by his manager Jose Mourinho, who will be closely monitoring how the burly central defender performs under more intensity.
