Robin van Persie is reported to be keen on a return to the Premier League, with Crystal Palace and Stoke known to be in the hunt.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker is currently playing his football in Turkey with Fenerbahce but was heavily linked with a return to England in the summer.
Both Stoke and Palace were said to be keen to do a deal, but the player's staggering salary, thought to be £240,000 a week, was a huge stumbling block and he stayed in Turkey.
However fresh reports are suggesting that the 33-year-old could be on the move in the January transfer window as he would be willing to take a huge pay cut.
Everton and Middlesbrough have also been linked with a move for the Dutchman so it looks as though a battle for his signature could be on the cards when the window re-opens.
