Marcus Rashford has returned to the England squad and Jesse Lingard has received a first call-up from interim boss Gareth Southgate.
Rashford's recall comes after the teenager scored a hat-trick for Southgate's England Under-21 side against Norway last month and the departure of former senior head coach Sam Allardyce.
Lingard also worked with Southgate in the past and came off the bench to score the winner against Sweden in the European Under-21 Championship finals back in 2015.
The interim England head coach said: "There are obviously a couple of players that I've worked with in the Under-21s with Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, who we think are exciting young players who we wanted to put in this squad."
The squad, which also includes captain Wayne Rooney and United team-mate Chris Smalling, will report to St. George's Park on Tuesday, ahead of taking on Malta at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
England will then travel on to Ljubljana, where they face Slovenia on Tuesday 11 October.
