JUUL are working on an e-cigarette, which uses biometrics to detect a person's age.
The tobacco company wants to stamp out underage smoking by using the Bluetooth-enabled device to detect the age of the person and also use geo-fencing to stop smoking when the e-cigarette is near a school. The device would also help users control their nicotine intake as well as controlling the strength of the vapour and its intensity too.
Victoria Davis, a spokesperson for JUUL, said: "We are actively evaluating new technologies and features to help keep JUUL out of the hands of young people."
The JUUL device has been created to make switching from traditional cigarettes to e-cigarettes "as easy as possible".
They shared on their website: "JUUL Labs was founded with the goal of providing smokers with an easy to use vapour alternative to combustible cigarettes, containing a similar level of nicotine to make switching as easy as possible. JUUL uses an intelligent heating mechanism that creates an aerosol and is engineered to minimise combustion. JUUL is a closed system vapour product and is not designed to be refillable. JUUL is rechargeable via a USB port. A JUULpod is the cartridge that clicks into the top of the JUUL device. JUULpods contain a proprietary salt-based nicotine e-liquid formula, which is mixed under strict quality-controlled processes, and is intended to help satisfy smokers when transitioning from cigarettes."
