TikTok is partnering with GIPHY.
The short-form video app - which launched in the US exactly one year ago (02.08.18) - is adding a new level of creativity for its users by joining forces with GIPHY, the world's largest library of animated GIFs and stickers.
While TikTok users will now be able to add GIPHY stickers to their videos, there is an added bonus for other platforms.
Now, TikTok videos can be integrated into any platform that uses GIPHY - including Instagram and Facebook- where they will show up as GIFs.
ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok - which was created in 2012 - is now valued at $75 billion.
CEO and founder of ByteDance, Zhang Yiming, 35, has revealed that he is an avid TikToker too.
He told Tech Node: "For a very long time, I was merely watching TikTok videos without making any of them myself, because it's a product mainly for young people. But later on we made it compulsory for all management team members to make their own TikTok videos, and they must win a certain number of 'likes.' Otherwise, they have to do push-ups. It was a big step for me."
Chinese based app TikTok has been compared to the original Vine - which first launched in January 2013 and came to a close in January 2017.
Vine was hugely popular with teenagers, who posted six-second video clips to the site, often in the form of short comedy sketches.
Since its closure, TikTok has taken over the short-form video market, with many users taking to the app to create similar content to Vine, or to lip-sync to short clips of songs.
